An Introduction to
The 2008 Designer Showhouse

The 2008 Designer Showhouse is a collaboration between metroMAGAZINE and the Nebraska/Iowa Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

The purpose of this elaborately planned undertaking is to support three different local charities by providing them added public exposure during their week of presentations at the Showhouse and by sharing a portion of the revenues with each organization.

In addition, the Showhouse provides a unique opportunity for the public to discover the latest trends in home design and a sampling of the talent and innovation of some of the area's most highly regarded designers.

Through this partnership a spectacular new approach to the Showhouse project creates fresh opportunities for giving back to the Omaha community. The theme of "Design with a Conscience" is doubly served by each design team's emphasis on "going green," incorporating environmentally safe and responsible products into their designs, while at the same time supporting an overall commitment to our beneficiary organizations. metroMAGAZINE and ASID are privileged to benefit the
2008 Designer Showhouse selected non-profit organizations:
Omaha Performing Arts: THE PRESENTERS, Camp Fire USA,
and Junior League of Omaha.

Project responsibilities are divided between the two organizations. metroMAGAZINE provides promotional and organizational expertise for the event including logistics, sponsorship, volunteers and marketing. The Nebraska/Iowa Chapter ASID facilitates the opportunity for individual ASID designers to create, coordinate, implement and furnish individual design spaces. The selection of the Showhouse location is a collective effort between metroMAGAZINE and the Nebraska/Iowa Chapter ASID.

I am excited and pleased that this approach to the Showhouse will afford our charity beneficiaries an opportunity to promote the work of their fine organizations and to benefit from the funds received. I encourage you to attend the Opening Night Charity Gala where a portion of your admission can be designated to go directly to the beneficiary of your choice. However, there are a number of ways in which your participation in this event can help promote the work of these fine organizations.

We invite you to stroll through each area of the Showhouse to enjoy the display of creativity and talents of the design staff, and to discover the latest in design trends. We are grateful to Pat and Sharon McNeil for opening their home to us, and to you, in order to help promote these deserving organizations and gifted designers.
Their hospitality makes it possible for us to present a Showhouse which is truly "Designed with a Conscience."

Please check the General Information and Special Events pages for additional information on the many events and activities associated with the 2008 Designer Showhouse.

Enjoy your visit!

Welcome from The President

of the Nebraska/Iowa Chapter of the
American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

Joyce Wimmer, ASID
NE/IA Chapter President

A warm welcome is extended to every visitor who walks through our front door!
We are delighted that you have taken the time to visit the 2008 ASID Designer Showhouse, and we hope that you enjoy your tour.

Members of the NE/IA chapter of ASID have worked diligently to showcase their talents and abilities, and to create an interesting, inviting and functional home for all to see. Even though each space is designed by a specific individual or a design firm using their own creative vision, they have all worked as a team to create a flow of color and style throughout the home.

We thank the McNeils for so graciously and generously giving us the opportunity to use their magnificent home for this year's Showhouse. It is not a small sacrifice on their part, and we are truly grateful that they have been so willing to work with us.

Thank you for your patronage.

Joyce Wimmer, ASID
NE/IA Chapter President

I am very excited to be the chairman of the 2008 Designer Showhouse! This year we have the privilege of working with homeowners Pat and Sharon McNeil on their residence. The home has gone through a major face lift and will showcase the latest in design and environmentally friendly trends and materials. Sixty-seven designers are working on the transformation of twenty-one design spaces within the home.

I have been active in the NE/IA ASID Chapter and have served on several special event committees including the Showhouse Steering Committee for three years. We are so excited to be partnering with metroMagazine on the Showhouse. I am assisted this year by the Design Committee of Diane Luxford, ASID; Becky Jackson, ASID; and Pam Johnson; Allied Member ASID.
